"The Perfect Start"
Right after Rotorua, the EWS circuit headed south to Blue Derby, Tasmania, for round 2. A rider favorite, the course in Tasmania was high speed and filled with technical rock sections which separated the best from the rest.
Canyon Factory Racing's Dim Tordo finished 17th in Tasmania, and leaves the first two round swing in 12th overall. The EWS will take a 6-week break before returning for #3 on the small island of Madeira.
Backing up his solid start to the year in Rotorua, Ruaridh Cunningham finished 16th in Tasmania. Adjusting to the format as the races go on, expect to see Cunningham begin to climb the results sheet.
What could have been?! Jesse Melamed was sitting in 2nd overall after stage 3 but some costly crashes knocked him back to 8th when the day came to a close. Clearly showing speed through the first 2 rounds, Melamed is one to watch this year!
Rocky Mountain's Remi Gauvin landed a career best 4th place in Tasmania. The 2019 season is off to a great start for Gauvin and his sights must now be set on a podium spot!
Improving one spot on last week, Florian Nicolai finished 2nd in Tasmania, moving into second spot in the overall.
A perfect start to the season; Martin Maes once again won the Queen Stage and the race, leaving this opening series swing with maximum points. Will he show up in Maribor to race the first DH World Cup?
