What is the 5050 used for?
Downhill / Freeriding / BMX

Why do the plates slide out?
Most flat pedals have the pin hex hole on the top surface. This design makes pins very difficult to remove if they break or are worn down. Other flats pedals have s hex on the bottom of the pins. This compromises the location of the pins, because it limits pin placement and requires access from the other side of the pedal to install and remove pins. The 50/50 has removable plates so you have full freedom to customize pin location and still have access from the back. This feature allows for the plates to be made from a material that is harder than the main body. The plates are located in the area that takes the most abuse.

What is the difference between the x and xx models?
The X uses a "cup and cone" loose ball bearing system. This system is typically larger, which means that the pedal needs to be thicker that increases stack height and has additional weight.

The XX uses cartridge bearings; the peals have a lower profile, which means lower stack height and lower weight. It also means that you can completely replace the bearings. This pedal also has a build in grease port for easy maintance.

Is there a difference in materials used?
The materials are the same for the X and the XX.Both the Body and the Plates are 6061 aluminum, but the body is heat treated to T6, and the Plates to T8.This gives the plates very different properties (harder).

Can the 5050's be rebuilt?
Both pedals are serviceable.  The 50/50 X can be serviced by repacking the loose ball bearings with grease. The 50/50 XX can be serviced by injecting grease into the grease port. The 50/50 XX bearing can be replaced with a rebuild kit.

What is the length of pins?
The long pins are 4.8mm high. (Long pins are included with 50/50 XX and are available after market) The short are 3.2mm high. (Short pins are included with 50/50 X and the 50/50 XX and are available after market)

How many pins can be used?
The pedals come standard with 18pins per pedal. There are 36 different locations per pedal where pins can be placed. This allows full customization of traction pin location to rider’s preference and terrain conditions.
