tools you'll need:
Mallet
Block of wood
Oil lube
parts included in the kit:
One 15mm axle
Two15mm end caps
Two 17x19x1 o-rings
Remove the quick release end caps from the front hub. This can be done using the front skewer placed thru the hub at an angle.
All crankbrothers wheels use a standard 3.2mm spoke wrench (typically color coded black) for truing. No other tools are needed for basic maintenance.
Remove the o-rings from each end of the axle..
Tap out the spindle from either side using the mallet. This will simultaneously remove the bearing as well. Note: You only need to remove one bearing.
Lubricate one of the 15mm axle caps and push it thru the bearing remaining in the hub shell. NOTE: Use the rubber seal from the QR cap to cover the bearing before installing the 15mm cap.
Press the 15mm axle into the hub shell sliding it over the flange of the end cap already in place.
Press the bearing that was extracted earlier back into the hub shell over the axle. Use a socket with a 27-28mm (1.06 to 1.10 in) diameter to press on the outer race of the bearing and the mallet when doing this. This will prevent damage to the bearing. Important: press on the outer bearing race and not on the bearing seal.
Lubricate the remaining 15mm end cap and press it into the bearing you just installed. NOTE: remember to place the seal form the QR cap over the bearing.
To finish installation, place one of the two end caps on top of a block of wood and tap lightly the other end cap with a mallet. This will insure all parts are fully seated.
Install the wheel onto the fork and spin the wheel. The wheel should rotate freely. If the wheel does not rotate properly, it is likely that the bearing was not pressed in completely.
