all hail king peaty!
the ninth annual lisbon downtown race was held with racers taking to the infamous cobblestone stairways winding down the old city from the castelo de sao jorge. as cats scrambled off the race rack, citizens watched from their laundry filled balconies to see steve peat, indisputably the king of lisbon, take his 7th consecutive win with teammate greg minnaar in second, just .46 behind him.

greg minnaar (santa cruz syndicate), south africa's most successful mountain bike racer ever, made a triumphant return to competition at the weekend after a long injury layoff to capture the national downhill title at the 2008 mazda mtn south african mountain bike championships. in the end, it was 1 : greg minnarr, 2 : andrew neethling, 3 : jonty neethling.
